FEMALE VOICE: Our dream was to open an art gallery.
MALE VOICE: I guess it was 2003 when I started my consulting business.
MALE VOICE: I got into medicine because I wanted to help people. I opened a practice in the late 90s and it was great.
FEMALE VOICE: I was working toward an accounting degree and I did an internship with a great firm.
FEMALE VOICE: So we piled together all of our money.
MALE VOICE: Which wasn't a lot.
FEMALE VOICE: No. And some of our parents' money and we looked for a space and we opened our gallery.
MALE VOICE: Things just kind of took off, you know?
MALE VOICE: And we were doing very well financially, at least better than I had ever done.
MALE VOICE: Then the economy took a dive.
FEMALE VOICE: My youngest, Tory, had some medical problems.
MALE VOICE: We got into a house that was a little too much for us.
FEMALE VOICE: But it turns out we are better at art than we are at business.
MALE VOICE: And eventually I had to file bankruptcy.
FEMALE VOICE: Dreaded word there, right?
MALE VOICE: And it was really tough. I mean it was tougher than we though it would be.
FEMALE VOICE: Yeah, it was.
MALE VOICE: But I got some good legal advice and actually it wasn't that bad.
MALE VOICE: Honestly, it was the best choice we could make and it gave a reset. We were able to focus on the things that we do best.
MALE VOICE: I actually talked to a lawyer who helped us find some options outside of filing for bankruptcy, which would have had a huge impact on the practice, not just our personal finances.
MALE VOICE: Now I'm on the other side of it.
FEMALE VOICE: So now we don't own a gallery.
MALE VOICE: Thank goodness.
FEMALE VOICE: I know, right? Not the best choice. But it gives us the best of both worlds. We get to work on our art and show it off in other people's galleries.

MALE VOICE: Well we scaled down our lifestyle and began to make wiser choices financially.

FEMALE VOICE: I'm back in school finally and Tory doesn't even remember being sick.

MALE VOICE: In fact I'm a year into my new business. This time I've got a partner and things are looking good.
